Don't Text Message while driving

I just saw this article posted to Digg titled “Do You Text Message While Driving?” and thought it was worth sharing.
It was about recent article in the The New York Times where a 17-year old girl and four of her friends were killed in a car crash which police say was caused by three factors: her inexperience at the wheel, driving at high speeds and the text messaging that occurred while she was driving. Two minutes before the accident was reported, the driver had sent a message to one of her friends.

In my opinion text messaging while driving is definitely worse than simple talking on you phone while driving, because not only is your attention not focused on the road, with text messaging you’re not even looking at the road and what’s happening around you, even if it’s only for a moment.

I feel that people should be allowed to apply for a leaners for a code 1 when they are 15, code 2 when they are 16 and code 3 for when they are 17 but only be allowed to actually do their learnes after their birthdays.
