Stuff you need to know

1.            Instructors are available 6 days per week from 06h00 to 18h00. The office from 08h00 to 17h00. Let this be enough. We are only human. God made Sundays to rest.

2.            You do not have to come to us. You are special and we will come and fetch you – for the driving lessons and even for the learners licence.

3.            Training is with our Polo Vivo. You may use your own vehicle should you prefer to do so, but the price stays the same. With us time = money.

3.            We just love the smell of fresh banknotes so we operate a cash business. Please pay per lesson or per package in advance. We just hate IOU’s.

4.            Stuff happens. We understand. If you have to cancel an appointment please do so 24 hours before the time, otherwise we will charge you.

5.            We live in Africa. Time serves no purpose to a DLTC (Drivers Licence Testing Centre).

6.            God did not create all men equal and that is especially true when it comes to government employees. And the availability of test dates depends on them. It can be anything from 2 weeks to 3 months. Thus one’s success depends on one’s ability to cope with their ever changing system. Sad, but true. Just grin and bear. Do what you must do. Step in line. Wait your turn. Get this chapter in your life over and done with.

7.            Our instructors have no personal life. They get up at 05h00 in the morning to serve you. Please bear with us if all our efforts are not perfect. We are also dependant on vehicles/traffic/roadwork’s/unforeseen events.

8.            We will not leave the country with your money. We are just trying to do an honest day’s work – and attempting to make this weird and wonderful DLTC system work.

How to choose a driving school.

One would believe that driving schools are governed by some kind of body or organization with power. Yeah, right….. not in South Africa. Choose one you like and follow your 6th sense. Or is it common sense?  Basically it boils down to this. You do not want them to pop in a new prepaid sim card every other week and away flies your money (not that RICA is worth anything). Choose one that at least has a registered CC or MPY with the CIPC. This way you have access to their registered address and  phone number – even without them knowing. It also helps if they are on a friendly foot with SARS. Further each instructor is supposed to be in possession of a valid Instructors Certificate issued by a DLTC. This just means that they themselves have received training and know what you must be taught. Unfortunately this does not include people skills.

If you are a Parent.

Think back to the day your child was born. What a glorious day. Remember how everybody advised you to start saving for your child’s education? And how you said yes, definitely it should be done. Well the years just flew by and guess what? Today is Pay Day! Obtaining a valid driver’s licence does not come cheap. And if you pay peanuts, expect monkeys. You do not want a cheap quick fix in this department of your child’s education. You want your child to be safe on the road equipped with the necessary skills to look after themselves. And once you have done this, keep sending those prayers every evening and let God take care of the rest.
